Mission
Children are the most vital resource to the continued existence and integrity of the Puyallup Tribe. Therefore, the Tribe has a compelling interest in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of all Puyallup children. By establishing a Child Support Program, the Puyallup Tribe has reaffirmed Puyallup customs and traditions, which recognize that both parents are obligated to provide support for their children as the respective incomes, resources and abilities allow.
Services Provided
- The Puyallup Tribal Child Support Program is committed to providing confidential services to Tribal members and other members of the community, while assisting parents to reach agreements on issues surrounding the support of their children.
- We provide paternity establishment, support order and modification and enforcement services. We also receive and appropriately distribute child support payments.
- We analyze individual child support issues and provide guidance on options for resolution of issues.
Accomplishments
- The Puyallup Tribal Child Support Program has continued to facilitate the reduction of child support debt which was either inappropriately set by the State or in which repayment would be impossible due to changes in circumstances.
- To date these reductions total over $2.3 million. We have assisted in the reunion of families and have helped parents unite in working toward the best for their children. We have collected more than $2,239,000 in child support much of which is for children who have never before received financial support.
Goals
It is the objective of the Child Support Program to continue to provide quality and culturally relevant services to this community.
