Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must be:

  1. Puyallup Tribal Member;
  2. An immediate relative of the deceased:
    • Mother
    • Father
    • Children
    • Sister
    • Brother
    • Grandmother or Grandfather
    • Great-Grandmother or Great-Grandfather
    • Grandchildren
    • Step-parent
    • Step-children
    • Aunt or Uncle; or
    • Nieces or Nephews
  3. 18 years or older

Funeral Travel Assistance

The amount of the assistance is based on location of funeral. Therefore the following apply:

  1. When the funeral is located within the county where the applicant is living, the maximum amount of assistance is $75;
  2. If the funeral is located outside the county where the applicant is living, the maximum amount is $125;
  3. When the funeral is located out-side the county where the applicant is living an within the state (where the applicant is living) the maximum amount is $125;
  4. When the funeral is located outside the state where the applicant is living, the maximum amount is $500.
  5. The applicant may have the option to request cost of roundtrip airline ticket if living out of state (CDR#738 db04).
  6. When a family has to fly into Washington state, they can be offered two (2) rooms at the Emerald Queen Fife Casino at no charge, based on the availability of rooms. The family spokesperson will determine who receives the rooms. Any other family members wishing to stay at the hotel will be offered a discounted rate, when rooms are available. Rooms will be available for a maximum of 3 days.

Other Information:

The Funeral Travel Assistance Program is funded by the Puyallup Tribe. At any time the amount of funding can be either decreased or increased based on funding allocations.
